Hey guys,

For those that have been on the At, what are the craziest things someone's done to name themselves through a trail log?

I have the bright idea to start a story in the trail logs for my section hike. I am a writer by nature, and figured I could jot down a little paragraph short story for every log I encounter. The story would evolve until I end my section hike. The people behind me could look forward to something in a way.

I had a cartoon strip one section hike. I thought up the next cartoon during the day then entered it into the log at the shelter at night.

Seen a number of short stories spread over the registers. Its fun...others have enjoyed it. Go for it!

Some of the short porn stories I've read in shelter logs were truly amazing. :)

One guy created a fake hiker and trail name for him and then started a "war" with him in the shelter registers. Every register had an entry from each where they were arguing, fighting, talking trash, etc. It took quite awhile before people figured out that the characters weren't real and it was a total fabrication, but people found it entertaining to see what they would say to each other in the next register.

Rule 35. If you can think of it, the porn already exists.

If theres one thing you dont want to touch, its a shelter logbook. Handled by every filthy set of hiker hands to pass thru.

Never even considered writing a trail journal. All I write in the log book is my trail name and that's just so I can be located if a loved one needs me.

True that I suppose. Rule 37, "the more I learn the less I understand"
