10 amp hours is a lot of power. Good price and reasonably light weight. I see no reason not to get one.

Do you have a purpose in mind, or just backpacking in general. It is a lot of power and may be more/heavier then you really need, you may be able to get away with half on a typical AT thru.

Going the other way, for just a tad more power and weight and actually less money you can get 12000 - 15000 mAh which can also jump start your car.

From your description, I gather you intend on using your phone the same as I do, I'm guessing. Keep in airplane mode most of the time, and update your journal each day, either by updating directly or typing into a word file on your phone from which you can copy and paste into trail journals when you get a good signal. Also use as your camera.

You didn't say what trail you'll be hiking, but I'll assume it's the AT. If that's correct, you'll reach a town or hostel at least every five days or so. Using your phone as stated above, you'd only need one charge between towns. In that case you can get by with a 3000mAh battery pack.

Now if you are watching weight and volume, something like an Anker Astro Mini would be perfect. Weighs 3 ounces and is about the size of a tube of Chapstick.

You have to decide how much you can get by with, or how much extra you'll need. The larger the capacity, the weight increases drastically.

I have an Anker 13,000 mah (10.1oz) that I bought thinking I would get a bunch of use out of it but will probably put it up for sale soon. I keep going back to my New Trent 5,200 mah at 4.6oz which gives me 3 full charges on my iPhone. For my Thru, I have decided that a 8,000mah will be the right fit for me. It'll give me 4 charges as I plan on using my phone for everything including video. The Xuma brand has one at 6.1oz.

I got a 5,200mAh size. One USB port is enough as if you really want to charge more than one device at a time (unlikely since you can just have something charging in your pack as you hike and change it out when you stop for a break), you can still do so using a splitter cable. That deal sounds great for 10Ah, if you don't mind and/or may need the extra weight. Do your homework on the brand - look up reviews and such and make sure it is decent. I don't have any familiarity with them but these things are not all created equal.

On second thought, half a pound for a charger is a bit much. I have a 3 oz, 2200 mah unit which I rarely used. With good battery management you should be able to go a long time between recharges. Leave it in airplane mode, turn off unused apps, keep the screen brightness low, go to total shutdown at night.

With that said....for my AT sections usually 3-4 days I'll prob only bring a 2,500 or 5,600mh as easy get 2-3 days out of a charge.

I don't know this brand, but I can recommend the Anker brand. I got the Anker 2nd Gen Astro E5 16000mAh for $40 on Amazon, and it's probably overkill in terms of capacity, but it works great.
