We waste energy in the form of fuel when we unnecessarily heat up water too high and then wait for the temp of the food to cool down(energy to dissipate) to eat it.

Watched your video Darwin. Can you provide a little more specifics? How much water did you heat up for the Knorr side? How long did you let it sit in your cozy? Did you have to drain any water out? It looked like you put it inside a ziplock bag inside the cozy so why not just dump the tuna into the ziplock bag so you don't have to clean out the pot? Any links to demonstrate exactly how you made your cozy? Thanks!

Perhaps but boiling is purification. Also normally I don't wait for it to cool, I wait for it to rehydrate which higher temperatures shorten the wait time.

So, I use about 25% less water when cooking with this method. If it ask for 2 cups water, I put in 1.5 cups. It takes about 7 minutes sitting in the cozy, I check on it after 7 & if its still soupy, I let it sit a little longer..... I never drain it off. Usually all the water will be absorbed, just depends on how long you let it sit for ( I was super hungry in the video & just couldn't wait). The whole point of the cozy is to insulate it & trap the heat in, so just putting it in the Zip-lock wouldn't work. Sometimes I used a zip lock in the cozy, sometimes not. I just used the zip lock in case it fell over & got knorr all over the inside of my Cozy. As far as making the Cozy goes, there are a ton of DIY videos on youtube on how to make one, but I recon I could shoot one as well. Thanks for the Feedback!

Nicely done. Cozy cooking (either pot cozies or freezer bag cozies) really saves fuel in backcountry cooking. If the recipe gives a simmer time, just double the wait time in the cozy & you're good to go.

Happy trails.
