Zimbabwean / Australian confirmed flights and landing in Atlanta 8th of March at 6pm odd, will buy last supplies on 9th of March and intend staying at Hiker Hostel in Dahlonega before starting out on NOBO thru hike on around 10th of March ..... any advice appreciated and if anyone wants to start out with me or will allow me to join and start with their group I would be over the proverbial moon ..... would love to leave footprints with some like-minded happy people..... Thanks .... Gordon

You'll find plenty of like-minded happy people on the trail on early March. Staying at the Hiker Hostel will help immensely -- you'll be able to meet, talk to, and hang out with other hikers the night before, at breakfast, and on the ride to Springer. (You do have a reservation already, right? :) ) If you stay at the hostel two nights, you can spend the day at Neels Gap getting everything you need - the HH folks will drive you over there for a reasonable fee.

Have a great hike, hope you enjoy it. And, yeah, be prepared for cold wet weather.

Beautiful picture of tent and rainbow, never seen one like that real low to the ground.

I didn't know Shimano made tents. My shoes are made from Shimano:) http://www.shimano-lifestylegear.com/us/fw/products/tour/index.php

Advice: don't run over the Old Hiker 10 days ahead of you with the green Osprey pack.

Yell "G'day, mate" and get a Texan "Howdy, y'all " back. (Sorry - couldn't resist stereotyping.)

See you up there - 99 days as of today - 22 Nov 15.
