I am planning a trip in 2016 to hike from the trail-head at Nantahala, NC to Unicoi Gap, GA trail-head and wanted to know what kind of water crossings I should expect. Will I need to pick up a pair of water shoes for any of those crossings or will my GoreTex Hiking boots be enough. Just did not want to carry any excess weight if I did not need to. However, I want to keep my shoes and feet as dry as possible. Any advice on this section would be helpful.

Thanks,

None. The greatest of them all was a wide creek an inch deep, tip toes across rocks

Hiking southbound, the largest "crossing" was south of Glassmine Gap by Long Branch Shelter. The trail becomes a bit of a creek for about 20 - 30 yards. It was just as Gambit described. :)
