Planning to spend a week hiking around Flagstaff, and a few weeks hiking in Utah. My main plan, however, is to volunteer as a Citizen Scientist in Glacier NP, and spend my free time in the backcountry counting loons or observing mountain goats.

Not huge adventures, but interesting to me.

For something a little different, my extended family is talking about taking a trip to Turkey in the fall.

Sept- Colorado trailgood choice for timing. Might see you out there.

My wife and I want to make a serious dent in the 2nd highest hundred peaks in colorado (13,600' to 13,800'). Tougher list technically than highest hundred that we finished a few years ago. She pointed out that we're getting up there and better climb the dozen or so tough ones while we still can!

I'm planning a hike over the Italian Alps following the the footsteps of my ancestors - the Glorious Return of the Waldensians or, in Italian, Glorioso Rimpatrio dei Valdesi. The total route is only about 150 miles, but this is the southernmost portion - several passes around 10,000 ft or so - and great food and wine in the valleys!

I began the pilgrimage to my ancestors lived home this year (Avelino Italy near Naples) I walked through Ireland England Spain France this year 1200 miles. Of course the 90 day visa expired and hope to go back in 2017 or 18 for France/Switzerland/Dolomites(Alps) then down to Avelino through the Apennines . My grandparents moved to Boston from Avelino almost 100 years ago http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/02/0cad23c1443b45d2d47d58eeb29a545a.jpg the alps look amazing and European hiking is pricey but luxurious by American standards. A bed is usually doable wherever u are.

My husband and I will finish up SNP and northern VA this spring. In the summer and early fall we'll tackle the Whites and HMW + Katahdin, so it will be a challenging year for us. We're running out of AT that's nearby, so we'll backpack some non-AT trails in the Smokies this summer.

virtually walking the distance of the AT.

Last year was a very awkward year as we moved 1900 miles and trying to get established in a new state

not likely to hike the AT for many years or even any parts of it now that we are out of new england. So I decided I will walk the miles here around our house. (Un)fortunately we have no hills. :) and I won't need to carry much except water when it gets hotter. I've done 19 miles in 3 days. I actually "decided" today so the first 2 days were just "walks" with the DH. The 11 miles I did today were 7 on my own and 4 with him after work.
