View Full Version : How many CLARK owners do we have here???
Just wondering -
I've got three that cover four generations / models.
I need to get a Clark Ultralight - with maybe a newly designed rain fly - I like to experiment.
Hey Trooper, did I read that you have one?
Anyway, thanks

I have 2. A North American with the XL rainfly that I use with a pair of No Snivellers and a Ultralight that my 10 year old uses with a top and underquilt I made from a Ray Way quilt kit.

I have a North American with extra large rainfly. I am very happy with it.

I have the North American model with XL fly, bought it a month or so ago, and I am Very pleased with the hammock. Comfortable, dry, and warm with the 2 layers top and bottom (bug netting and weather shield on top, and pockets and heavier material on the bottom), I do not plan on making any changes to it yet. Even the XL fly may be considered by some too small, but for a solo camper, the weight/size are perfect i believe.
I have an Ultralight, but now use my homemade. I used a North American at first, then the Ultralight for a couple years. After making my own I really appreciate the design of the Clark. My partner still uses a Clark. But, my homemade is lighter and works great since it's custom just for me.

I have some pics somewhere, I'll look them up and post them. Keep in mind that I sized the quilt for someone around 5' tall, in order to keep the weight down.
with the oversized rain fly. Wouldn't sleep in anything else...
Check it out...

I'd like to see a few pics of your homemade hammock - got any?
You've really got me thinking.
Tripod, great photo. The variety of places that you can place these hammocks is a big part of their charm.
This photo and the few afterward are a few of my wild tieups.
Either to the side of a shelter (or in a shelter) or a hand rail... The night of the hand rail, I thought I might wake up to a racoon sniffing in my face -

Started using a Clark Tropical in Vermont last summer. I'm converted - no going back to a tent. Rode out a violent storm near Shooting Star Shelter and stayed dry and safe.
