I was wondering if anyone out there knows of this Road? It is about 7.5 miles south of Hamburg, PA, PA 61. I'm trying to break up a 15+ mile day hike from Hamburg, PA to PA 183 and was wondering if this road is accessible. It also looks like it maybe a switch back. The AT map is not clear and the PA atlas makes it look like it's accessible via Mountain Road off of PA 61.
Any info about this will be very appreciated.
Thx
Angie

Hi Angie. I need to hike from PA183 south to RoundHead/ShowersSteps where I left off, then from PA183 north to Port Clinton/PA61 as I attempt to complete PA. Check out the info below, especially the site maintained by the Rohlands, which is excellent! I think there is a PA gamelands parking area from which you can hike up to the AT via Shartlesville/Cross Mtn Road. I'm fairly sure you cannot drive right up to the AT via Shartlesville/Cross Mtn Road. If you want some company when you do that hike, let us know. Happy hiking! - Disco

The trail crosses a forest service road several times in that section and is open now during hunting season only. If you need any help PM me. Iceman
