It's been 10 weeks since a two-day backpacking trip near Winding Stair, 2 weeks since we did a little dayhike at Max Patch. Does it count if I cross the AT in a car?

Last hikes on the AT were 1 1/2 years ago - sections in VT and NH. Had to move to TX from NH. I miss the mountains and trails. It's a 4 hour drive now to the nearest decent hiking on the Ouachita Trail in OK/AR.

Was on it last weekend (Webster Cliff to Jackson) with about a foot of snow. I always like seeing the white blazes to remind me of past hikes.

I usually get out on the AT every day. It's just a short walk out the back door through the woods to the trail.

Took a little walk to Stratton Pond with a GMC group on New Year's Day. A perfect day/way to welcome in the New Year. Hope to see some of you on the trail this year in Vermont.

I was at the Doyle last week but I didn't cross the Duncannon square to the white blaze so it was a few more weeks back that I was actually on the A.T. Actually not, come to think of it, that same day I was at a business on High St. next to a blaze. So it wasn't as long as I thought. :)

Over 2 months. Sad since I live so close to almost all the trailheads south of Hot Springs. Family health issues and life in general get in the way. :)

In October, Spent 5 days and nights in the rain from Fontana dam to Davenport, soaking wet. Can't wait to get back for a 3 day hike to Hotsprings this winter or spring.

I enjoyed one of the first cold days of the season on the trail on Tuesday. I think it was in the 20s'. Rausch Gap area combined with some side trails for a nice 12 mile afternoon hike. Usually at least once every two weeks when time allows once a week.

Reason I put "never Been" as an option is I was curious if there are any long time member who just enjoy the whiteblaze community who have never been.

Used to go every year for 5 years.

It's too crowded now..... and I've discovered the Sierra Nevadas are nicer.

Living in the Upper Midwest, its not easy to get to the AT, but I was last on the AT during the summer of 2014-for those of you who live near our nations long distance trails, you are lucky!!!!

I voted, but if it had been between 6 and 7 months, 2 and 3 years, or 5 and 6 years, there would be no way to vote.

I believe ya!! Sierras are amazing! Both are truly unique in there own way. I love the AT during late fall-winter as its usually empty.

3+ years. Been there, done that. There are so many other trails I want to hike and trails that are closer for training hikes. I'll probably be back at some point but its not a priority.

Saw a white blaze yesterday on my way back across Mt. Clay from Mt. Jefferson during a Monroe/Washington/Jefferson hike on a rare and gorgeous January day above treeline.

I'm not sure how representative of WBers this survey actually is... It is a good thing that more than fifty percent of us have been on the trail in the last six months... But I suspect that number may be artificially high based on a pretty small sample. We should all go for a walk soon.

I'm trying to remember if my last hike on AT was Grafton Notch to Bald Pate or the Bigelow Mountains. I found a bunch of other hikes to do in the WMNF, so my AT hiking took a hiatus. I expect sometime this Winter I will go back and do a short section, maybe RT 27 to Crocker mountain, or Rt 4 to Spaulding Mountain. This Summer or early fall the gf and I plan on doing The Hundred Mile Wilderness SoBo from Daicey Pond and we'll walk until our two weeks vacation is over. That should finish up the AT in Maine for us.

I've discovered that trail work time is negatively relative to hiking time...............hiking in with tools, does not count!!!

Well, I can say my AT maintaining is negatively impacting my time available for backpacking. But if trail work were not done one might argue that hiking/backpacking in general would be negatively impacted. So, I think that maintaining should get some consideration and count to some degree.

Don't get me wrong.....I wouldn't be out here
.....but Max is right, my 250 hrs in 15, would have been 500 miles...easy!

I'm with you, less time maintaining would definitely equate to more trail miles. A vicious circle to be sure.
