i'm trying to plan a hike for late april on the Allegheny trail in West Virginia. i'm planning to do about 65-100 miles of it going southbound and ending in Cass. i can barely find any info on this trail though. certainly not anything recent. i ordered the guide book here http://wvscenictrails.org/AlleghenyTrailOverview.aspx im hoping to have it in the next few days. if anyone has or knows anyone with some XP on this trail any and all info and advice in greatly appreciated. im also looking for a hiking buddy. thanks

I did three section hikes totaling 145 miles - 1 in early spring, 1 in late spring, one in fall. Read about it here: http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=10571 Hiking the ALT is like the AT was 60 years ago - rough trail, road walks, fords, stretches with limited maintenance and lack of blazing. But it's also rewarding and nice to have more solitude.
