Hiya!

Just wanted to shout a quick hello to my fellow 2016 women thru hikers and create a safe place where we can connect, meet up, introduce, plan, talk, etc.

So hi, I'm Marisa and I'm currently in NYC, planning on taking off NOBO on 4/9 from Springer. Currently I'm struggling with : am I really finally doing this? ahhhhh! and the ever important what tent, what tent, what tent. Also, diva cups. Do they work. Testing imminent.
Cheers and happy to hear from you all! I'll add this dancing banana to ensure our collective success and good fortune. :banana

Just hike. Plan your gear make sure you know it. Then just walk. Go with the flow.

Hi Fireplug! That's the plan, yep. Are you a solo female too?

No male. Retired firefighter. I'm 51 so now is the time. Plus if all goes well and I finish might look into the PCT in 2017 or the Colorado Trail. Not sure but many many options.

Guys can't seem to stay out of the female hiking forum, either. Who knew men had so much to add to discussions about diva cups and sports bras?!?

Not a female hiker here, but I am also from NYC. Starting at springer in March though. Good luck

Yes, they work. I would suggest starting to use one now so you get comfortable with inserting and removing it. I've been using a Diva cup for about 5 years. Only issue I've ever had is it leaking when I don't insert it correctly. I'll be hiking the PCT with a Diva cup.

21yo from Florida. I started planning my thru hike in late October. One of the first things I bought was a BLUE pStyle and Lena Menstrual cup.
The pStyle works perfectly! Its a device to assist ladies while urinating while standing. No squating and no risk for rashes on your bum! Also it can eliminate the need for TP with a swift upward-forward motion.
The Lena cup I got just in time to start my cycle in January. It was my first time so which practice comes perfection. Very comfortable and similar feeling to a super tampon IMO. Only once leaking due to not creating a strong seal inside. So happy with both of the purchases (Amazon)
Also I've picked up a few other things to make being a women on the trail a little easier.
