Any 2016 thru hikers from NC? I plan to start my hike after tax day and hoped to meet some folks attempting to thru hike to compare notes/stories about the upcoming trip.

I'll be leaving for the trail from Greensboro with a start date of March 20th which I just found out is the first day of Spring. My trail name is Hobbler which my son gave me. Hope to see you out there.

Glad to see some fellow Carolina residents making the trek this year. I'll be wearing my NC hat on the trail and hope we cross paths.

Didn't mention before but I'll be going NOBO from Springer Mountain on 20 March 2016 after spending the night at the www.HikerHostel.com in Dahlonega, GA on March 19th. They have a special where they'll pick you up in Atlanta and you'll spend the night at their Hostel, I chose a bunk, and then they'll take you over to an outfitter prior to delivering you to either Amolcola State Park or to the parking area at the top of Springer Mountain the next morning. This service cost $85 and their # is (770) 312-7342. I have no connection with the hostel so just passing along an option to getting to the trail head. Good luck everyone and I hope to meet each of you out there.

Hobbler: Thanks for the info on the Hostel. I will be heading NOBO from Springer, but not until mid May, much later than you all. I will be taking the train from Charlotte to Gainseville, Ga. to be picked up by the good folks at HikerHostel, spend the day, then hit the trail. My cost is a bit more, given that I'm past the "hiker rush", and discount period, but it's still a good deal, given that you have to get to the trail somehow.

See you all, maybe!
