What would be expectations for temp along that stretch this weekend? I'm guessing 30 or so leaving Tellico. Anyone have any experience on that 8-mile stretch during the winter?

Weather guessers are calling for very cold with snow on Sunday. Might be a good weekend to hunker down beside the wood stove.

A couple of my hiking buddies and I did the section from Wayah Gap to Tellico Gap in February 2014. By the time we got to elevation it was snowing, the wind was blowing, and the trail became ice covered. Turned out to be a brutal day and we cancelled the next two days we had planned. (Should have watched the weather more closely!)
