Was reading through stumpknockers journal and came across this, which I didnt realize had happened! so who is going out there to paint over it?!

Looks like a regular road stripe to me... maybe the painter just didn't know.

I do think it's been repainted, however, as therer were pictures recently of someone repainting it. Don't know if it was before or after this July 15 date, but possibly.

I crossed it in early September. Looks like they repainted the mile marker.

With all the relos I doubt it's still the 2000 mile mark. Someone needs to erect a post where the real 2000 mile mark should be

Go ahead....but why bother, it'd change every year. You wanna be the guy to re-locate it every year, Sly?

The painted mile marker in the road has been there for years, and seems good enough for me. It's a fine place for a celebration, even if it isn't strictly accurate.

(And for those who keep track of such things, there's good water and great camping just a few minutes north of it!)

I'm absolutely certain it's not the REAL 2000 mile point but it's a great emotional boost to finally cross that road and take your picture with that in the background.
