This is part one of an article detailing points of interest you don't want to miss while hiking all or part of the A.T. Included are the best vistas, fun trail towns, hostels, special shelters, and most importantly, where you can find good beer to quench your hiker thirst. ;) Part 1 focuses on the trail from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Part 2 in the works. Enjoy!

Her trail journal is amazing. She's a talented writer.

Thanks for sharing. Lots of good info. There's no mention of the homicidal neighbor at the Greasy Creek Hostel - is he gone?

As an aside- I strongly dislike that style of website in which the header stays put while you scroll. You lose valuable viewing space.

I agree with you. Glad to hear others feel the same way. I'm going to work on changing the theme soon. The free themes lack a lot of potential for creativity, but I'm a thru-hiker. I can't afford to pay $60-$100 for a theme. :p
