Ok so I've been reading up on this for many months and have a friend who has completed a thru hike to help with advice and gear recommendations. Some friends and I plan to do a section hike the second week of April and will need to dump a rental car in Dawsonville. Is there any known shuttle person that usually covers that area that could get us to Amicalola?

Josh and Leigh with the Hiker Hostel get a +recommend from me. Took excellent care of me and a few other hikers when I was in that area.

Hiker Hostel is a great place run by good people. I came into Atlanta and stayed there, but their shuttle capability was consumed. They subcontracted to Ron Brown. Many of the shuttle providers pass on requests to their competition when they cannot service the need. Ron's home phone is 706-636-2815. Cell is 706-745-1596. Ron puts out jugs of water on the trial in that seven mile dry stretch near his home. He services Atlanta and Amicolola to Fontana.

Dawsonville is a pretty small town. It would surprise me if they have a rental agency there. Gainesville, GA would have those services.

Supposed to be a Enterprise Rent a car at 25 Beartooth Pkwy in Dawsonville. Spike to Ron but he's pretty booked up.
