Hi, I am new to this forum and hiking.
Can you tell me what permits do I need to hike Virginia Triple Crown Loop in July?

Thanks

What the heck is the Virginia Triple Crown loop? As far as I know, no permits are required for any trails in Virginia, with the exception of the Shenandoah NP, but that's a self registry thing.

That's pretty neat, I didn't know there was a trail that crossed the valley over to North Mountain.

That is the old AT across North Mountain.

Not exactly a permit issue, but do be aware that camping is only permitted at designated campsites / shelters along the AT from Va. 624 (Newport Road) north to Scorched Earth Gap (actually, all the way north to Va. 652, but that is well north of the loop) and along the Andy Layne Trail. These trail segments go across private land on right-of-ways.

I did this hike over Halloween weekend last fall. As others have said, there are no permits required. I did it as a 3 day/2 night loop, starting at VA 311 and staying at Lambert's Meadow Shelter the first night and a campsite near the start of the Dragon's Tooth Trail the second night. Great trip, I highly recommend it. I saw two bears on the North Mountain section.
