I have an osprey atmos AG and was thinking of getting a lighter pack possibly a zpacks arc blast. I was wondering what packs you use and if anyone has the arc blast how it is overall.

I swear by my ULA OHM 2.0. Used to be a big Osprey fan, still am for certain uses (day hikes), but the ULA pack blows away my old Osprey Exos and Atmos packs for overall comfort and weight efficiency. This all being said, that zpacks Arc Blast looks sa-weet....

ZPacks ArcBlast in both 52 and 60L for my main packs.

I have the REI Flash 45 and 62 and like them as well.

I absolutely am in love with my gossamer gear gorilla. Spectacularly comfortable, light, and can pack a surprising amount of gear, thanks to a huge, very stretchy front panel.

I switched from an Osprey as well because of weight. I've changed to the Gossamer Gear Mariposa.

I think grandma Gatewood had it figured out. Just use a duffle bag thrown over your shoulder.

Exos 48. I figured I could get a half pound lighter and spend a lot more money, but all that glorious back ventilation is what sold me.

LOL, the pack part comes off so it can be used to haul out your big game. the pack can be used without the frame as well. I do a lot of hunting and it does come in handy for hauling gear. Its just what i am comfortable with. If i ever get the chance to do a thru hike a different choice may be in order. But it works for all i do now.

Elemental Horizons Kalais - Love it. It's very light, but still has a minimal frame so it carries well. Similar to some of the ULA packs, but not as well know.

Kifaru KU2200

Used it for 176 days on my 2012 thru. Had durability issues, I sent it back to Patrick at the end of my hike and they sent me a new one. Kifaru phased out the whole KU line just after I sent them a shredded pack. Hah! I think I may have the last one. I baby this one, it wasn't cheep.

I have an Osprey Aether 75. Had it for about 4 years now with over a 1,000 miles or so on it. Yeah it is a little heavier than some packs, but the quality and quality of service from Osprey is worth it.

Granite Gear Crown VC60 - but I'm not a long-distance hiker, so I don't think my opinion is likely to matter. In a size Long, it's 65 litres, 36 ounces. It's a little bigger than I need for most of my trips, but I see a bear canister in my future, and wanted a pack that would take one horizontally. Most 45-50 litre packs won't, whatever the manufacturer says.

I'm using the Lowe Alpine Contour III I've had for 15 years. I purchased an Osprey Aether 70 recently for the weight savings, but, when I got it home, I really missed the external pockets and organizing options of my Lowe Alpine. Two pound weight saving or not, I took it back. I've used the Lowe Alpine on Section hikes on the AT in Georgia and really didn't mind the extra weight. HYOH, I suppose. Time will tell. If I find that I want a lighter pack, there are plenty of outfitters along the way.

I love all my packs:sun. I have used the Arc Blast 52 of late, but I am totally considering starting my thru with my ULA P1, which is now being "refurbished" by ULA.. I guess I can't go wrong with either.

This is my same pack and same thought process. Hopping on the PCT in a handful of weeks and hopefully it serves me well.

+1 on the Arc Haul. Same as the Blast but more durable, cheaper and only a few oz heavier. I really like it and the guys over at ZPacks are awesome...amazing customer service. I'm waiting on the arrival of my Duplex next month!

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Windrider 3400. Light, durable and highly functional. All the external pockets work great for me. Tons of space in the rear mesh, can easily retrieve a water bottle without dislocating a shoulder and the hipbelt pockets hold a lot. Although the suspension is minimal it does have a frame and feels like just enough for comfort to me. It held up very well over a six month thru hike, a few dings but definitely ready for 1000+ more. Unfortunately my experience with their customer service about some minor repairs post hike turned into a frustrating multi-month ordeal. Not sure how common that is with them.

I just got a ZPacks that is a hybrid between the Haul and the Zip. I haven't used it yet on the trail, but it packs so well and makes it easy to access my gear. I plan to do a video on it soon.

Definitely interested in the video. I love my Haul but I always like to see reviews from others on things I've committed so much money to!

Kelty Yukon or Alps Outdoorz Commander (http://www.alpsoutdoorz.com/products/packs/hunting-packs/commander-pack-bag) with (at least) the gun sling, hold-open frame, and girlfriend's seat removed.

The Osprey Atmos AG is actually the most comfortable internal frame I've tried so far in that capacity range, but I haven't tried on a lot because I like external. The velcro on the adjustable belt disgusted me a little, but with the price of that pack its nice to get a little reach-around. Seriously though, I think the pack is worth the money for somebody who wants that kind of pack. I'd like to try an Exos and compare.

Osprey Atmos 65 AG without the brain. I love this pack, but I hate that it's about 2lbs heavier than others. One thing is for sure.. if you have to carry over 30lbs (please try not to do so) this pack can handle it.
