Hi Folks,

I have recently purchased a 9x 9 Bear paw tarp (used) and have Yama Mtn net tent 1 P coming in the mail. I am heading up the to JMT, specifaclly Evolution Valley with two others. We will be exposed to skeeters. I was hoping to pitch the tarp (and yet tent wen needed), as my compadres will use my SMD Lunar Duo.

I was looking for setup suggestions on how to pitch both with minimal stakes and guylines. If folks have website links I would really appreciate the support. Btw:I did Google this forum and the net and could not find good instructions just demos. I am most interested in how to integrate the two with my trekking poles and utilize the tarp structure for the net tent. Sorry, I am having trouble visualizing the set up. Of course, once I get both I will experiment but thought I could find some good suggestions.

thanks in advance and Happy Trails!

Depends on your tarp configuration. If doing a A frame tarp set up config attach the four bottom corners of the YMG Bug net to the same stakes your tarp is staked out to via either bungee and a mini cord locks system as seen on the ZP site or plastic mitten hooks or use YMG guy lines and cord tensioners. Attach the ridgeline tie outs of both your tarp and bug net to the same tarp pole/trekking pole. Evolution Valley has some nice flat treed campsites adjacent to the JMT tread with I'm sure some sticks and rocks around. I could see you getting away with 8 Y stakes...two for the ridgelines, possibly longer though, and three for each side of the tarp which depends on your tarp guyout spacing and number per side.

I have a YMG shaped tarp and net tent. The ridgeline of the net tent attaches to D-rings on the inside of the tarp. Not sure if your tarp will have the D-rings for the ridgeline. Like Dogwood said, attach the lines from the corners of the net tent to the same stakes as your tarp.

Once they arrive play with them in the yard. You'll figure it out.

Thank you Dogwood and Threedogs.

Probably under thinking it. I don't have dloops just regular tie outs on my bear paw. Should the net tent guylines at the front and back be attached/ threaded through tarp ridgeline loops then to trekking poles?

thanks again,

mario

Has anyone tried these: http://www.zpacks.com/accessories/pole_cups.shtml? I keep debating a purchase of these instead of returning to a tent when hammocking may not be possible and thought that's what Dogwoods link was going to go to.

Work great, I used them on my tarp setup.

Looks like it is worth $10 bucks to try Gbolt and Cheyou. JustBolt your link on YouTube does not pertain to my question. It shows someone carving a spoon and hanging an Aframe over a hammock. Confused?
