Wayah Bald Mountain Lookout Tower Camping Question

I have camped next to the Wayah Bald Tower in the past, but would like to know if tent camping is permitted in the parking area by the restrooms. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I suppose you could, but would you really want to? Pretty busy place there, especially right now. I believe there is a trail magic crew set up there pretty much full time at the moment.

I don't know for sure. The area by the bathrooms may be posted as day use only. I have a feeling that if you were "caught" camping right on or around the base of the tower, you would be asked to leave. It's mostly a touristy area. As I said, I don't know for sure, just my gut feelings. :)

Wasn't yesterday, but maybe they are only there on weekends...

For what it's worth, I camped 2 nights in November at the base of the tower with no issues. I am hoping that tent camping next to my vehicle in the parking area would be OK.
