Guthook apps are specifically designed for long distance trails.

After having used them for the first time last year, I now wouldn't consider hitting The Trail without them.

I like BackCountry Navigator. I wouldn't like it as much except that I make my own maps for it.

I've been using backcountry navigator for several years (more than 5 I think, maybe even close to 10?). Super powerful. Reasonably intuitive. Extensive and versatile map options. Reasonably priced. I think I'm on my fourth or fifth phone with this app. I haven't found anything I like better or use more. I play with lots of other map apps from one small feature or another, but always go back to BackCountry Navigator for regular use in the back country.
