That's a cool site. Nippy on the trail in NC tonight, Sassafras Shelter down to 24* tonight, wind gusts up to 44mph!

I should probably mention once again that I have a list of the NOAA "recreation" and "higher summits" forecasts that cover the AT in a journal post at http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/entry.php/8011-NOAA-high-elevation-forecasts . I just went through and updated links.

Ok, me too just search for applichaian trail. Then browse down a couple of pages. Look for the logo to find it faster.

He lost his old weather server and the way the app was written, it was easier to just do a complete re-write rather than an update. The new version is 10x better!

The app programmer posted that it had problems with either Yahoo or Google , which he was using to piggy back his app on locking him out. I think it had to do with security. That's why you don't see it offered any more. I just go to at weather.org

WTH are you talking about? Appalachian Trail Weather by Shutter(NOBO 2011) is available on Google Play Store at this very moment. It works better than ever since he switched his weather server.

I am having same problem. You can put in a location but then the message is always "there is a problem retrieving data."

Okay! After reading posts I uninstalled and reinstalled. Works great now.

IMO, the weather forecast (the apps just triangulate from different stations that may be nowhere near your location) on the AT isn't that useful unless you're in a gap or town. None of them are reporting at elevation. Having said that, the best weather app I've found/used is called WX. It will at least let you choose what weather reporting stations to use when building a custom location forecast.
