Hey everyone! I am currently saving to finish off the AT where I ended up last year (just north of Pearisburg, VA). I ran out of money (because I didn't save enough) last year, and I don't want that to happen again. I plan on starting the beginning of June, and hiking all the way to Katahdin. I have all the gear I need, and am wondering how much should I budget to finish the trail? I have heard it gets more expensive as you go north?

How much did you spend to get to Pearisburg? At least triple that amount.

I'd have to second that. Things get more expensive above the Mason-Dixon Line, for practically everything. Not to say you still can't be frugal, just be prepared for it.

I spent roughly around 1,000$ not including getting to and from the trail. I also indulged in a lot of beer and hotels/hostels

Yep roughly $3,000... Maybe $2500 if really, really frugal...and that's not including beer.
