An excellent piece telling of the hunter ideal, though I would have skipped the buck and concentrated on the doe or yearling as much more tender and tasty.

Actually, as the years go by I appreciate more the value and inportance of hunting in nature's scheme of things, but find it increasingly difficult to practice myself. One of the many eccentricities of age, perhaps.

"The American dream is truly amazing any way you choose it, but this hands-on outdoor conservation lifestyle of hunting, fishing and trapping keeps one honest to the cause and effect with the good Mother Earth and all her creatures and resources." -the Nuge

If only more hunters could share his appreciation....

cheers to the Nuge!

What a well written piece.

Though I do not hunt myself, can see how hunting can a spiritual way to spend time in the outdoors. Bow hunting seems an espicially close way to be with nature.
