This claim is not a fact. Not that I am a physician or nutritionist, but most experts in the field claim that a balance of unprocessed fruits and vegetables have been shown, time and time again, to be a healthy diet. The only question beyond that is whether limited amounts of animal products cause harm or not, but not many are questioning the benefits of at least a mostly plant-based diet, if not an entirely plant-based one.

For example, from a recent study on the subject: "A meta-analysis of all available human trials says fructose in and of itself is not to blame for the increase in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. ...[E]xcess consumption of calories can contribute to the disease, regardless of whether those calories came from fructose or other carbohydrates."

Here is a physician and nutritionist that specifically states that you should eat berries daily as part of your diet. Note various scientific studies cited in his article, some even specifically dealing with cherries.
