How did you get home from Katahdin after your thru?

Former thru-hikers, what strategy did you use to get yourself home from Katahdin? I walked down the Saddle Trail and luckily had a friend meet me at Roaring Brook Campground who drove me to Millinocket. From there I took a shuttle with Appalachian Trail Lodge to the bus station...took a bus to Bangor and rented a car there to get myself home.

I'd love to know the following:
Which trail did you take down?
How did you get a ride from there?
For those who hitched, was it an easy hitch?

On my first thru, two of us hitched to southern Maine, then my friend's parents drove from Mass. to pick us up. It was a slow hitch, once we got past Millinocket. On my second hike, my partner's family dropped me off at the train station in Worcester, MA on their way south.
