After an extensive six-day search for Fairfax County firefighter Nicole Mittendorff, search efforts have been suspended after officials reported a body was discovered in the Shenandoah National Park.
A spokeswoman for the National Park Service confirmed that search efforts were suspended after a body was found near White Oak Canyon trail, not far from where her car was parked. Friends and family had suspected that Mittendorff, an avid athlete, was likely running in the park.

The last report I saw reported that the authorities found a note in her car and they do not suspect foul play. Finding the note was not made public until her body was found.

Later Thursday night, police said they found a suicide note in Mittendorff's car and that they do not suspect foul play was involved.
