Lets say I do a springtime start of the AT in Roanoke, Virginia, hike NOBO to Katahdin, and then flip-flop to do the southern half of the AT in late summer and fall. Would it be better to do the southern part SOBO or NOBO or does it really matter? When does snow enter into the equation? I have not yet set a start date. Thanks.
