Can anyone tell me if there is any place between Hogpen Gap and Unicoi Gap to be picked up or is it a point to point only?

Nothing directly on the AT between those 2 points. You could hike down the Jack's Knob Trail from Chattahoochee Gap to a road but you might as well keep going to Unicoi Gap at that point.
