Hey gang - I just wrapped up two day hikes through the Maryland portion of the trail. I am interested in pushing south a bit and wanted to ask you fine people about a 15 - 18 mile day hike starting in Harper's Ferry and heading south.

Thanks!
Josh

Harper's Ferry to Snickers Gap is right at 20

Thanks CHKN (great screen name by the way). I was thinking of going to Blackburn but not sure that is far enough. Though the terrain is pretty intense from what I've heard.

Blackburn Trail Center is 7 miles north of Snickers Gap which would make your hike 13 miles. Bears Den is half mile from Snickers Gap and has parking in their lower lot for a nominal fee.

Perfect. I've heard good things about Blackburn. I think, given the terrain that a 13 mile hike would be a good one.

Anyone been to Blackburn? Wondering how far it is from the trail. We'd be arriving to our parked car there and rumor has it its a pretty steep downhill. Just curious.

I have been been there a few times. It is a steep downhill but no more than .25 miles. The area between David Lesser and HF is quite rocky. Just an FYI

Thanks. I've gone south from HF, almost to Keys gap. I remember those rocks. Sharp, jagged little buggers!
