View Full Version : Parking long term Troutville Va
Change of plans! Can you recommend a safe place to leave my car in Troutville, Va.?
Also I need suggestions for overnight accommodations in Troutville with easy access to the trail!
thanks
Define 'long term'.
There's a park and ride off exit 150 that's a few hundred yards from the trail. Right next to the Exxon station.
Try this address: "39 Tinker Mountain Rd, Daleville, VA 24083". You can certainly park there for several days. If it's much longer than that, perhaps a shuttle might be in order. There are plenty of people in the area. Karen Dillard comes to mind, but there are others of course.
Not being able to edit posts is really annoying. Need to re-up my membership. Anyway: For overnight accommodations, check out the Howard Johnson hotel on the other side of the Exxon. Very hiker friendly, and with a stay you could probably convince them to let you leave your car there for a short time.
I will need to leave it there for about a month give or take !
Other than the trail head in Daleville near the Exxon is there another trail head easy to access from Troutville?

There is parking right at the US 11 crossing, the point on the trail nearest to Troutville. I have seen people leave cars there for a week or so -- a month might be pushing it. Another option might be talking to the manager at the town park. They allow campers to stay there for free, so they might allow a pre-arranged long-term parking situation. If you can't work anything else out, I wouldn't mind allowing a hiker to park in my driveway, though I am not overly convenient to town.

Still get error. Looks like you need to wipe out a few more.
I deleted them all. Not sure what the problem is. I will check it again.
