Fly into Albany NY then take a Bus to Bennington NY than another bus to North Adams. Or Fly into Boston then take a train to Pittsfield then a bus to North Adams

We took Amtrak to Amherst then got a shuttle from a local provider. You could fly to NYC and do this.

Just FYI - that should be Bennington VT.
You may want to consult this site (http://www.berkshirerta.com) as they run the local transit in much of the Western Mass area (from Great Barrington to Pittsfield to North Adams/Williamstown) so one of the bigger companies (like Greyhound or Peter Pan) should be able to get you to one of those (or Bennington) from your choice of Albany (NY) or Boston (MA) then this site will help with the last bits.

Probably just depends in the end on which airport has the best deals and schedules to mesh with the buses.

Another way to do it is to take the Peter Pan bus from New Haven to Williamstown. From there you can access the AT by hiking through the Williams College campus and getting on the Pine Cobble Trail which will connect you to the AT, or alternatively you could hike along Rt. 2 (or get an Uber or a shuttle or a bus) from Williamstown and access North Adams that way.

For sure, Albany is the largest big town, so if this guy is available, I'd go with that option. Note that the AT trailheads in N. Adams are pretty weird. Heading north out of town, you follow a street and walk up a driveway and someone's back yard. Coming off Greylock you get dumped on a residential street several blocks from Rte. 2.

The drive from downtown Albany to N. Adams is about an hour, via Rte. 2. Head north on I-87 to Troy to catch Rte. 2. It goes over the Taconic range and is very scenic.

Was just there yesterday! LOL A fellow WBer picked me up at Bascom Lodge on Mt. Greylock yesterday morning and drove me via North Adams and Williamstown to the Albany, NY airport.

If you don't find another way, shoot me a PM and I'll ask if they might be willing to do the same for you, or know of someone who would.

You can check out the posts on this subject on the Long Trail Forum. Plenty of options.

The A.T. goes across Highway 2 (aka State Road, aka Mohawk Trail), just south of the MA/VT border.

State Road goes between Williamstown and North Adams. Both town are just a few miles from The Trail, and you can ride the #3 Bus from either one to The Trail.

As noted above, Peter Pan Bus Lines goes right to Williamstown.
Amtrak goes to Pittsfield MA,
https://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=am/am2Station/Station_Page&code=PIT
and from there you can ride the #1 Bus to North Adams.

In all case, check the schedule, as these buses only run once each hour.
