Hey all just looking for some advice. My partner and I will be attempting a sobo thru hike starting June 1st/2nd. We had a ride lined up for this next weekend (5/28) from NY to Millinocket that canceled today. Luckily, within minutes of having our friend cancel another friend reached out offering a ride up to Portland on Monday (5/30).

I am wondering if anyone here could recommend a way up to Millinocket from Portland, I'm coming up short with my google'fu. We may try to hitch but 3 hours seems like a stretch.

some of that may be out of date. Easy enough to take the bus from Portland to Bangor.

There are several bus options from Portland to Bangor, then the Cyr bus runs to Medway. PM me or call me at the AT Lodge in Millinocket if I can assist in any way. Make sure you have a campsite at Katahdin Stream Campground reserved for the day of your climb.

Note that Cyr bus only runs once a day and arrives Medway at 7:40 pm. You might want to reserve a room at the AT Lodge for the evening you arrive. http://johntcyrandsons.com/daily-service/

Only Cyr bus lines runs to the Medway exit. Its about 15 to 20 minutes to Millinocket and another 45 minutes to the Togue Pond Gate of BSP and another 20 minutes to KSC. There is lot to be said for making reservations with the AT lodge as they can pick you up at Bangor (extra bucks) or Medway, supply you place to stay that night and deliver you to KSC in the AM. If someone is giving you a ride into the park to KSC, and they have out of state plates, they have to pay a road fee, so figure that staying at the AT lodge saves you the $14 bucks.
