White ink actually fades quicker than others. I have a lizard on my shoulder that was outlined in white in 1999. While all the other colors (green and black) are still fairly brilliant, the white is all but gone.

I'm toying with the idea of getting the plaque at the summit of springer with the map in the background. When I get back I'll get how far I got tattooed in red on the map portion. Hopefully, I'll get to fill the whole thing in! :D

Well ...from personal experience I'd say that the outline wouldn't have been too rough but filling in all that gray might have raised an eyebrow.

How do you KNOW it says 'solitude' and not something like 'booger eater', 'fart breath' or something else that the tatoo artist laughs about to this day with all his friends. I have friends that have different chinese symbols and I say the same thing to them. Reminds me of when we told this guy at work that his name in spanish was pronounced "as-weep-a'......real spelling was Ass-wipe. We called him that for years and he never knew the difference.

LOL. I once knew this African guy name Shatheed. We told him the spelling was ****head. OK, I made that up but its just as funny.....

I speak Japanese (read and write too) and have seen so many guys with tatoos who think they say one thing, but they really say something else. After the first two or three I stopped telling them. Really, what are the chances of them living in a small PA town meeting someone who can read Japanese? Ignorance is bliss.....

Thanks Slogger. I threw together the design about a month ago. I've always wanted the AT symbol, but wanted to add a little something, hence the blaze, and entire trail.

I have a white blaze on my AT tat and it has faded. If you want a white blaze somewhere in the tat, either outline it or have it surrounded by a dark color.:-?
