Sunday night, my city-dwelling 6-year-old granddaughter and I set up my new Double Rainbow in the back field and settled in for the night. She overcame her fears, and we had a great time. We watched the fireflies, listened to crickets and the neighbors' dogs, talked for a while, and dozed off, to be awakened by rain, followed by thunder and lightning. She slept a lot better than I did (must get a better pad for the old bones) and is now ready for her first backpacking trip. And very proud of herself, I might add.

That's great, another seed planted for an out of doors advocate.
