Dennis Cove (Rd.) has the Kincora Hostel, Laurel Creek Lodge & Cabins (if it's still open) and a Forest Service Campground, but no shelter.

Was there a Dennis Cove Shelter at one time? And, if so, what happened to it?

Sorry, don't know anything about Dennis Cove Shelter.
Laurel Fork Lodge is recently under new ownership after being closed for couple seasons. My understanding is that the new owners do intend to open for business, but I don't know if they've accomplished that yet.

Laurel Fork Lodge is recently under new ownership. . . .It's been renamed Black Bear Resort (http://www.blackbearresorttn.com/) and, according to their website, will be open for business on 1 March 2012.

Yes indeed, and you'd better bring your wallet.

$10 hiker bunk house (includes shower), seems reasonable to me and no "donation" silliness!

At Kincora you get a bunk, shower/towel, free laundry and a ride to the store all for the "silliness" of a $4 donation. Of course half the hikers stiff him on even that.
