Hello!

I am planning to hike the AT from Roan Mtn to Damascus the first week of August. I am hoping the higher elevations on this stretch will be a bit cooler (well, less hot) than on other parts of the southern AT. I would appreciate any suggestions, updates or input:

Water sources drying up?
Temperatures to expect?
Park in Damascus and shuttle to around Roan Mtn? Where to find?
Would you go somewhere else?
What else?

Thank you!!!

Water sources drying up? Depends on rain.
Temperatures to expect? Hot
Park in Damascus and shuttle to around Roan Mtn? Where to find? Good plan.
Would you go somewhere else? Yep. Id go out west, colorado or the sierra or northern PCT or other. On the AT Id stick to VT thru ME if travel time and money was not an issue. Its all good though, some just better than others at certain times of year. Except for Arkansas, its absolutely horrible in summer.

LMAO! This just made my day. I used to live there, and it's absolutely true. Only place worse is eastern Texas.
