I'm doing the Carvers to 19E section over Labor day weekend and I'm curious if there are any shuttle options other than Mountain Harbor B&B. I was planning on doing an out and back from Carvers Gap, but I heard that the parking lot might not be the safest place to leave my car overnight??

Parking at Carvers Gap is something I've done with no problem, and something a lot of people do. But there is always broken window glass in the parking lot. It is a much better location than 19E. You could park at Roan Mt. State Park and hitch or hike up - maybe 3-4 miles.

Another option is to park at the end of Roaring Fork Road which is off of 19E on the North Carolina side. The end of Roaring Fork is about a mile from Overmountain shelter and is a good place to park.

I have parked at carvers 6 weekends, and 19E 2 weekends. with Mountain harbor at such a close distance I would suggest paying the 2-4 bucks a day, get them to shuttle you up to carvers and walk back to your car in their parking area which I would consider to be the safest option.

Carver's Gap should be fine, but I wouldn't trust parking at 19E. Parking at MH and getting shuttled is still probably the best idea. Since you're doing an out-and back you could probably ask about catching a ride back with them down from Carver's Gap around 1000 (a lot of their shuttles go out at 9/9:30 am up to Carver's).
