View Full Version : Shuttle driver in Franklin
Are there any active shuttle drivers in Franklin, NC and if so, does anyone have phone numbers?
I know the "Ron Haven" angle but that's more nebulous than I'm asking about. I'm talking about people with phone numbers in Franklin (not Hiawassee or Wesser, etc) that I can call on the phone who are reliable.
I'm going to need a couple of shuttles out of Franklin the second week of October for myself as I hike back to Fontana.

great to see you back on WB! how did your Superior hike go?
It was great - had a wonderful hike. By AT standards I would rate it as "extremely easy hiking" both in terms of difficulty of terrain and resupply. I'd hike it again in a heartbeat. I met a lot of really nice people too. I highly recommend the Superior Hiking Trail - especially if someone is looking for an entry into longer-distance hiking.

Thanks for the referral to Beverly! I spoke with her and she's exactly what I was looking for. Someone in Franklin, who shuttles, that I can reach by phone when I need them.

Is Ron in Franklin? I was thinking he lives in Ellijay.
Coming from Ellijay, 70ish miles away I don't know what he'd charge for a shuttle from Franklin to Winding Stair Gap but I'm guessing it would be a lot more than someone who lives in Franklin.

Did you get a shuttle from Franklin to Winding Stair Gap?
I can't imagine he'd drive 150 miles for $20... :) I'm not ragging on his pricing - I've used Ron before too and have only praise. If you read my original post I was looking for someone *in* Franklin because it's 10 miles from Franklin to Winding Stair Gap and anyone driving from say... Hiawassee or Wesser or Ellijay is going to need to charge accordingly.

He is indeed. FWIW I'm going to use some of my Hilton points to stay at the Hampton Inn so I wouldn't be staying at Ron's. I have stayed at 3 of Ron's hotels though and have always had a great experience.
There are different kinds of shuttle drivers. I was wanting one who lived in Franklin who could pick me up and drop me off with minimal notice (without scheduling an appointment) and had a phone number I could call when I needed them.
