Our Meetup.com group went from Carvers Gap to 19E (Mountain Harbor) over the weekend. Really enjoyed ourselves. Doll Flats was great for hammock camping on the edge of a beautiful meadow. 4 out of 5 of us used hammocks, as well as most of a boy scout troop that happened to be there too.
Hammock Stuff: My DIY underquilt, Hammeck Netty and Whoopies, Hennessy SilNylon tarp, and Hammock Gear top quilt (rated to 20 degrees, but I left most of it off me during the night.
Water was few and far between. I started with 3 liters, and walked until Bradley Gap, then got more and walked to Doll Flats. It was pretty dry except for those two spots. Skipped Overmountain Shelter. Beautiful weekend for hiking.
