Is there a fire ban between Elk Garden and Fox Creek anywhere right now?

Someone told me there is but I can not find this info on the web.

"Please practice LNT and safe fire building while in the backcountry"

It's possible that there might not be.
Check out this U.S. Drought Monitor map (http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Home/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx).
You can see conditions are really bad in GA, TN, NC, and many New England states. But VA, MD, and PA are only in the 1st stages of a drought.

I can't find concrete information for that area, but just south here in the Cherokee National Forest there's a complete ban. Its incredibly dry and there are more than a dozen fires in the area already. I just wouldn't risk it personally.

Per the Roanoke Times there are fire restrictions along the Blue Ridge Parkway in southern Va.
Smyth County in SW Virginia had issued a fire ban a week ago which continues to remain in effect.
