I know when it comes to gear and thru-hiking its not good to skimp on costs for equipment.
But has anyone used the site " geartrader.com ?
If so has it been a good experience? And what have you gotten there that has or hasn't worked well for you ?
I plan on getting equipment over time so not too worried about costs but would like to be frugal a well.

I've used geartrade to buy and sell. It's been a positive experience for me. I sold two sleeping bags and a pair of hiking poles. I've bought a stove, down vest, mittens, sleeping bag and pad. I've been happy with all transactions and gear. I think the best part is the site acts as middleman for the exchange of funds protecting buying and seller. The down side they take 13% of the sale. Ultimately do your homework on the item and strike a deal that makes both parties happy.

Ive used geartrade once and had a very good experience. In fact the item I bought had some issues that weren't represented and geartrade contacted the seller and he offered me the choice of a partial refund with me keeping the item or I could return it for a full refund. My choice. I took the partial refund and kept the item. So even though I had a problem, it was resolved to my full satisfaction. I'd not hesitate to use them again.

I tried to sell some boots on there once and got zero response. I've had better luck with craigslist.
