I'm going to be hiking the Georgia portion of the AT in mid-May and was wondering what the best -- and least heavy -- combination of top and bottom clothing I should consider bringing? I don't really own any official hiking clothes. Would two pants with zip-off legs, two undershirts and one long-sleeve overshirt suffice?

I should add that I'll be hiking for about five days.

I'd go with 1 pair of the zip off pants, 2 short sleeve shirts and maybe a lightweight long sleeve for evenings

and I would want at least a pair of long johns or light weight flecce pants ...and a flecce jacket ..along with windproof nylon pants and jacket..

I have a pair of ladies microflecce pants that I bought at sams club ..$9.00...a pair of nylon pants from target $8.00...

I'd bring 1 pair of nylon pants, 2 t-shirts,
1 pair underwear, 1 warm hat, 1 pair of thin liner type gloves (look in the gardenning section of walmart), 1 fleece jacket or warm thermal top, 1 rainjacket.
