Good discount on mass drop but still expensive. Really like the concept (can ditch a water bottle and save fuel by pre-hydrating food) but not sure if it is worth the expense....and any "savings" may go right back into a caldera. Anyone have any feedback or real world experience?

170 views and not 1 reply? I guess no one else has used one...well I will be the Guinea pig. We'll see if I just saved a little weight/pack volume/fuel and made food preparation quicker or blew $70 (maybe a hundy if I get the caldera cone). ;)

You'll find people are quicker to look at an item you are inquiring about if you include a link to it in your post.

There are certainly less expensive options available, but I like the idea of letting things soak for awhile under the screw on lid, while you hike.

However, I see some issues. The silicone ring under the lid can easily be damaged, so the lid will have to be used upside down when cooking. Since there is no handle on the lid, it's going to be important to use extreme care not to get burned when removing the lid...it will be hot. The same thing goes for the handles, no insulation means they are going to be "melt your flesh" hot for a bit after cooking.

Cleaning titanium can be a real chore and the threads are going to hold crud for sure.

A review on Hike Lighter confirms some of those concerns: https://hikelighter.com/2016/07/26/vargomassdrop-bot-700-pot/
