Hello All, I asked this on the Gatlinburg fire thread but got no response so I thought I'd try again here. There is a place called Ely's Mill which is located at the exit to the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. The property consists of an old mill with a store and several cabins. My wife and I got married there and stayed in one of the cabins on our honeymoon last year and went back a few months later and stayed in a different cabin. We sort of became friends with the owner and we have decided that we want to go back there every year on our anniversary. With that being said, my question is, does anyone know the status of this property after the fires? My wife emailed the owner who is normally very prompt in responding and she got no response. I'm very interested in finding out if she and her property are ok. Thanks in advance for any info.

Looks like the family was evacuated but has made it back and the place is OK (see photo in the postings).

This article is the best I could find. Unfortunately it's not up-to-date, saying that 400 buildings were destroyed or damaged. Last I heard that number is 700. I would recommend calling local authorities or wait a few more days for information to get compiled.

Local8 has a google map with pins on known losses. Don't know how long they'll keep it updated.

Thank you everyone. That was just what I needed. Glad to know things are ok at Ely's mill.

Actually, Truly owned Facebook pages are proving to be a good source of damaged properties. However, some maps do not agree as to specific buildings. Channel 8 list the Park Vista has damaged. Channel 6 list it as spared. However, many sources agree and have been photographed. Ex. Alamo Restaurant and NAPA Auto Parts store. One of the most interesting video's I saw was a property owners Drone Video of Ski View Road and the Chalets. Many burned and others standing unharmed. You can really see the impact the wind had on driving the flames and destruction. Continuing to Pray for all that have been impacted.

WBIR just change the list and stated the Park Vista is still standing. Fire burned around it but the hotel did not catch fire. Some people actually spent the 1st night in the hotel because the fire ran out of fuel; yet the road down and the buildings lower than it where still burning. It ended up being safer to stay then to evacuate. That loop road and Cherekee Orchard area was hit hard though. So sad, because many would take Stop Light 8 up and and around to get over to 321 and out to Cobbly Knob. Exactly the path that some of the fire traveled.

Prayers for all the Locals that lost so much.
