Hi Friends, Planning a day hike from Keys Gap to Snickers Gap in a couple of weeks. I'm familiar with the terrain from Blackburn to Keys gap but south of Blackburn is a bit unknown. Looks fun (northern section of the roller coaster). I was wondering which direction would be best.

Thanks!

I liked south. Good parking both ends:

Oops, you wanted the next section north, still like south:

Did that in September. It contains part of the infamous roller coaster, which wasn't such a big deal. As I recall, Raven Rocks was a highlight. Wilson Gap was a huge letdown but good excuse to stop.

Snacktime and I hiked NOBO from Snickers to Blackburn, then Blackburn to Keyes and it was pretty easy.

I prefer SOBO but have done it both ways multiple times. Heading S. from Blackburn you will have 4-5 miles of ridgeline and pretty easy hiking. After Raven's Rocks, which has a great view, you will hit a couple short, steep climbs before getting back to Snickers. I live pretty close to that section and hike there often, feel free to message me if you need anything.

Thanks so much for the offer. I may take you up on that!
