Anyone know if the twisted Oak at Bly Gap survived the fires??

I don't know, but what a wonderful tree... so glad that others value it.

I remember that tree fondly. If anyone has any news, I welcome hearing that it survived.

When I got the email regarding the fires from the ATC yesterday I immediately thought about that very tree. Since it's surrounded by a bit of open space and not in an area of thick underbrush, I'm betting it made it...at least I hope so.

Guess we'll have to wait until someone can get in there to assess damage. I camped alone at Bly Gap last July. Used the tree as a work table and thoroughly enjoyed its company :-) / Wobbly Woody
