How do I get to Bangor after I complete my thru hike?
I suspect that this will be one of the easiest obstacles to deal with if you hike 2100 plus miles. There are various hiker services in Millinocket that can take you to Medway where you catch a bus to Bangor. I think that you will make many contacts in your hike through Maine, some who will have relatives meeting them at the end. A last minute way is simply approach folks loading up their car in the parking lot after day hiking and request a lift into Millinocket or even to Medway if they are going out to I-95. Offer to assist with gas money of course but if they have Maine plates I doubt that they will accept any payment. We are really a pretty friendly lot here in the north country.
If you are among the lucky few who make it, you will have acquired superpowers that make such worries disappear.
And that remark isn't entirely in jest. You will have hiked through many middle-of-nowheres to get there.
