With heavy heart, I learned of Tiger Mike's passing on Monday from complications of recent heart surgery. He completed his thru of the AT in 2015. I had the privilege of hiking several hundred miles with him.
I went home in Gorham that year and came back to finish in 2016. Tiger knew I was afraid of heights and wanted me to start out "right". He and his friend Carl picked me up at Logan Airport and drove me to Gorham where we walked another 21 miles together.
We would also drive cross country to attend the wedding of fellow hiker the Scientist. Tiger Mike was a great human being who had a personality bigger than life. It is hard to believe he is gone.
