When does the pack of NOBO's get t Harpers Ferry These days.I would like to miss them.
June 10th. The best way to miss the mob for Harpers is Dec to Mar
When does the pack of NOBO's get t Harpers Ferry These days.I would like to miss them.
The majority will be spread out from late May through early July with some earlier and some later than that window.
Most NOBOs arrive in Harpers Ferry from early May to early July.

The crowds are compounded with the addition of locals (like me :banana) going out over the 3 day Memorial Day weekend.
In 2017 that falls on Saturday, May 27- Monday, May 29th.

I got to Harper's Ferry at the end of May on my section last year. I was surprised at the amount of thru hikers that had already arrived there. Although I saw a few hikers everyday when they passed this old guy the campsites and shelters never seemed overly crowded so I am thinking the "pack" was pretty well spread out by that time. Bear's Den was pretty full when I spent the night there but was not filled to capacity.
Yes it's spread out over about three months.

Trail Days is mid-May, that's timed for the wave, and HF is five 550 miles north, so add five or six weeks.
Of course, the wave is pretty spread out... at best that's just a rough guess at where the middle might be.

Why? You could possibly miss out on meeting some great people! Not my first rodeo. This time I was thinking a thousand miles of warm and quiet would make for a nice summer SOBO from HF. Back when, the pack got to HF 7/4 as a rule but with the huge numbers and the early starts I was thinking they get there in May.
